Testing and assessment

Reporting to Parents

Parent teacher interviews will occur early Term 2 and early Term 4.

Written report cards are published early Term 3 and end of Term 4 via hardcopy and email to those parents with current email addresses on our database.


During the course of the year Cranbrook State School regularly notify parents if their child receives a D, E or N on an assessment task.  This notification encourages parents to make contact with the classroom teacher to determine how they can support their child in achievement the Australian Curriculum Achievement Standard before formal reporting occurs.

After each unit of work teachers are involved in a process called moderation.  The moderation process involves teachers discussing the qualities demonstrated in student work samples to reach consensus about the standard of the qualities. This process ensures all staff members are assessing at the same standard and there are no inconsistencies between classes.


Moderation also occurs bi-annually with other schools in our region to ensure consistency across schools.


Prior to reporting student assessment folios are validated against the Australian Curriculum Achievement Standards determine which final achievement grade will be allocated to a folio of work samples.
